This is a Design Fiction project focusing on imagining university 50 years into the future. The initial framework of the design is to imagine a system that unites Research, Practice, and Education as one cohesive whole. It later evolves into four pillars that are foundational to all branch of studies: Design, Philosophy, Technology, and Ecology.
The main inspiration is from Tagore’s philosophy of education, where he explored experimental farming in which students practice as a form of learning and researching. Students will develop not only in their mind, but also their body and soul through exercises and meditations.
From Frithjoff Bergmann, the idea aspires to create a high-tech, self-sustaining system that does not rely on the current prevailing market economic system.
The initial sketch is a system of discovery through dialectics and exploration and experimentation. While it is necessary to expose the students to the basic general knowledge, such as Linguistics, Mathematics, etc., students should as much as possible be exposed to the society/nature. When the students inquire, the students will be encouraged to formulate their own ideas and theories.
In the final concept, the structure is built along with the mechanisms in which the agents interact in ways that create a self-governing system.
